Tri-Jordyna® is a combination oral contraceptive (COC) used for:
Preventing pregnancy.
Treatment of moderate acne in females aged 15 and older who have no known contraindications to oral contraceptive therapy, desire contraception, and have achieved menarche.
How Does Tri-Jordyna Work?
Prevents ovulation: Inhibits the release of an egg from the ovary.
Thickens cervical mucus: Makes it harder for sperm to reach the egg.
Alters the uterine lining: Reduces the likelihood of implantation of a fertilized egg.
Effectiveness:
Perfect use: When taken exactly as directed, Tri-Jordyna is more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.
Typical use: Missed or late pills may reduce effectiveness.
Tri-Jordyna does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Use condoms for STI protection.
Who Should Not Use Tri-Jordyna?
Contraindications include:
History of or current blood clots, stroke, heart attack, or liver disease.
Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy.
Breast cancer or other estrogen-dependent cancers.
Uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes with vascular complications, or smoking over age 35.
Warnings and Precautions:
Smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects, especially in women over 35.
There is a risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart attack, particularly in women with risk factors such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
Liver disease: Tri-Jordyna should not be used in women with active liver disease or liver tumors.
